Earth-Kind® Vegetable, Herb, and Flower Gardening Workshop
February 22 @ 8:30 am - 5:30 pm$80
During this unique educational experience, you will learn how to transform a sunny corner of your landscape into a beautiful, productive, and fully-integrated Earth-Kind destination garden featuring our freshest vegetables, herbs, and fruit, enhanced by stunning blossoms from some of our most beautiful flowering plants.
Such wonderful gardening success can be achieved in harmony with nature, and with the highest level of research-based environmental responsibility, by following the principles and practices of Texas A&M AgriLife Extensions nationally-recognized Earth-Kind Environmental Landscape Management System.
Presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, this workshop will take place in The Landing ay Myers Park and Event Center in McKinney on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 8:30am-5:30pm.
Dr. Steve George, Professor and Extension Landscape Specialist with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Sergice, and creator of the Earth-Kind system, is the lead instructor and will personally conduct all the design consultations.
During this workshop, you will learn how to improve your soil, select the strongest, best-adapted plants, successfully grow the plants in ground-level beds or in containers, and choose a retail nursery. In addition, you will see just how successful and low maintenance and Earth-Kind garden truly is once it is installed and mulched. You will also be able to watch an actual field demonstration on Earth-Kind bed preparation, planting, and mulching techniques.
To further increase your dining enjoyment and entertaining expertise, you will have the opportunity to participate in an on-site wine tasting featuring local wines, then hear and expert explain how to have a complementary pairing of wine with your favorite foods.
For in-depth design assistance, you will be able to sign up for, at an additional cost, a four-hour individualized landscape design consultation with Dr. George to be held at a later date.
The enrollment fee for this cutting-edge educational event is very reasonable: morning session $40 per person, afternoon session $49 per person. If you sign up for both sessions before February 17th, you will receive a reduced rate of only $80 per person.
